Local climate action is powerful!
Even though the pace of change to renewables is accelerating, Federal policy paralysis such as the lack of a price on carbon or strong clean air or emissions standards means that Australia's emissions are going up not down, and our children's future is under threat.
We can reduce emissions at the local level.
Local climate action can reduce emissions powerfully, while making our cities and houses more comfortable. Join our working groups to help support more solar energy, better energy efficiency and heat protection with tree plantings and the restoration of wetlands and of course better public transport and promotion of low carbon transport such as walking and cycling.
Fossil fuels are risky, damage our health and break down in the heat. And they cost more, right now, and in the future.
We do have solutions - renewables with storage is now the most affordable kind of energy.
However our politicians are blocking effective action, and are even considering funding new coal fired power stations!
The recent KVC campaign was very successful in making sure climate was the number one issue in Kooyong, and this was reflected in a strong swing towards climate candidate against the national trend.
If we can build a big base across a number of inner east electorates we will be in a good position to influence policy, drop emissions and shift votes for climate across all three levels of government.
We would love your to volunteer for strong climate action to protect your future and our kids!
